equinox condos on eastlake

Went by the equinox condos near south lake union (near the Hooters).
It's going to real interesting watching this building. It backs directly onto I-5. Noise all around. $700,000 for a 2 bedroom. (That's a lot of chicken wings.)
Seriously who in their right mind would by one of these? Even in our bubbly Seattle market, you can get a decent house for $700,000. I just don't unsterstand the appeal of condos. Is it a premium just for having something new?
Commute is short, but you need to add the time needed to go up and down the elevator with groceries.
