Nope, it's all good news here. Everything is peachy. Great time to buy!
... and how the hell is Bothell "central", much less Issaquah/Sammamish? And popular? HAH!

Well, according to the talking head, she also recommends "Bell-a-View", wherever that is!

I almost fell out of my chair when she said that Biotech is one of the industries investing heavily in the area. Amgen laid-off people last year will more than likely lay-off more people in the future...they are the largest Biotech employer in the area.
Biotech is not labor intensive will not add the number of jobs that most people think it would. Also, most salaries in Biotech would not support the purchases of 500K and up homes.

Pure lies...
But, but, but.....I saw it on TV!!!!
Unbelievable the deceit just to con someone into paying you a comission so you can keep paying on that Beamer.....
There is no shame...nor accountability.

I often wonder whether the people who make these statements really believe them or not.
Ira - if you read this, I would love to have your insight. Why does it appear that so few real estate agents are willing to make predictions with such strong consequences? Won't they feel guilty if they turn out to be wrong?

Ben,
I think a lot of real estate agents are counting on people's short memories. There are a few professions where wrong predictions have no consequences, such as stock market predictions and weather forecasting. You can be wrong all the time and it won't matter.
Most real estate agents have swallowed the Kool-Aid and it serves them well to swallow the NAR crap. If you make your living selling houses, and prices are going down and nobody knows when it'll stop, the safest policy is to just smile and say " It's a great time to buy!"
I think people are smarter than that. I'm not going to tell people " Don't buy!", after all, I'm a real estate agent, but I'm also not going to do that song and dance routine telling them they'd better buy now because prices are going to go up any day now.
About predictions: I love to make them and I'm usually wrong. I see a home price bottom around the fall of '09 and flatness till about 2012. In politics, I see Barack Obama getting elected President with Jim Webb as his running mate. Weather: we'll see sunshine forever!

People are always talking about how at least the sun will come up tomorrow, but what they don't realize is that solar trends can last for billions of years or more. Sure, we may be in a hot environment now, but better start saving those joules because we have a cold future in store for us. Remember, they aren't making any more hydrogren.

Hydrogen always goes up?

They know which way is up on Star Trek because the ships are always oriented the same when they meet in space.

The "they aren't making any more hydrogren" was an oblique reference to that short story.
