A First

I haven't searched Redfin in a long time because the results (or lack thereof) were just too disappointing for someone that refuses to pay more than 4x salary for a house. But tonight there was a first -- there are actually two houses that I kinda like that are within a reasonable commute to Microsoft and within my price range. I've never actually had this happen before, so I was pretty stunned!

Since the bottom has been called, I apparently need to buy now or be priced out forever...again.

Maybe I'll go for a driveby tomorrow...

Yep, slowly but surely.

I'm liking renting so much (after "owning"), house prices will have to come down more than I originally planned to get me off the fence.

I'm absolutely sick of renting, but I don't make big decisions lightly. I'm not about to hop off the fence, but I am starting to watch specific areas for what I want. Until now, it hasn't mattered because prices wre way too high. Now there seems to be a little hope.

I drove out to take a look at those two houses and a few others today, and as I expected, they are still $50k+ overpriced. I really like the area, so I think it's my top contender now. It will be interesting to see what the prices do over the new 6+ months there. I'll have to keep watch.
