BRE Rentals: Bait and Switch?

There are a lot of ads on craigslist for rentals from such big companies as BRE with offers well below their standard rates. Yarrowood Highlands also has plenty of those.

So I decided to visit BRE on Saturday referring to an ad that was listed on Friday -- they told me the place was no longer available and offerred something more expensive. On Monday they were advertising again at the same rate as Friday.

Looks like typical bait and switch scam. But from such big companies as BRE?

Anyone experienced anything like this recently?
