Good places to live in Seattle for people in their 20s?

The benefit of working in Auburn is that you can have a reverse commute. There are buses to/from Auburn. I suggest you experiment with the and see if you can find a good route to someplace more interesting. At your age and no kids, I would look for a place in Seattle, not the Eastside (Bellevue etc.), which is more for parents/kids. I would check out the Georgetown/Mt. Baker/Columbia City/Beacon Hill areas that are south of downtown, because they are up & coming (lots of things to do but it's a cheaper area) and you wouldn't have to deal with getting across downtown every work day. You might be able to take the , which stops in Auburn (not sure if it goes in that direction with passengers, but I don't see why not). There's a decent chance you could find a place with a garage in those areas too. And you'd be close to Seattle, where Belltown, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, and Fremont are nice places to visit. In around 2009 a light rail train will run through Columbia City and Beacon Hill to downtown Seattle and from there to Capitol Hill.

Apparently you haven't been to downtown Bellevue lately. The crowd there is perfect for ~20 years olds.

Lincoln Square Cinemas is the only theater I go to now. Yeah it's a pretty good area for 20-somethings, but don't you think it's a bit small? You've got the core of Bellevue and Kirkland and that's about it. To each his own, but I like the look of Seattle places better. Older & less gaudy (except for the ubiquitous Starbucks).

Two things the Eastside's got going for it is generally clean & unlocked bathrooms, and easier & free parking.

I am in that age range with a girlfriend, so I prefer something less wild...

Maybe if I am single, I would enjoy living in Seattle better.

As someone who works on UW campus, I would highly recommend you find a place with a good bus line to campus or within walking distance. Trust me, your girlfriend will appreciate it! If you work in Auburn, you won't get caught up in traffic, but if you live south, your GF will need to deal with rush hour every day. I've had students who were experiencing great difficulty in school due to their long commutes during the week, not being able to get to the library easily, etc. The problem is that the areas around the UW are expensive and highly sought after (everyone on this board keeps suggesting we, that is renters trying to buy, move to the eastside or Bothell for cheaper rents and cheaper houses, and it's just not practical for everyone).
