You may have heard of a little show on A&E called "Flip that House". It seems that over the past year the flippers on that show have not been doing so well and now A&E is cancelling it.

Tim let me in on a little secret that he made me promise not to tell. I'm pretty bad at keeping secrets, so Tim was a fool to let me in on it. A&E is replacing the cancelled show with a new one called "Crash That Neighborhood." Each show features a crew of bloggers who compete to did up facts and dirt on various neighborhoods and then 'educate' the public about what they have uncovered. The blogger who results in the highest drop in prices in their assigned neighborhood 'wins'.

There is no actual prize. A&E figures that bloggers do this stuff for free anyway.

Crash MY neighborhood. I know you guys can do it. I believe that Hanc0ck Park is the achilles heel of Los Angeles. We can have multiple websites nationwide...hey...while we're at it lets bring housingpanic so my neighborhood can be put under the worldwide microscope.

OMG.....I'm a renter, but I think that would be terrible. Entertaining, but terrible. I think prices need to come down, sure, but not in quite so manufactured a way. I think that the proposed show misses the point -- prices aren't too high because these neighborhoods have pristine reputations.
Prices are too high because of the (well documented) events of the last four years or so. Prices are too high in even lousy neighborhoods. I would guess you can go find a house in White Center for over $350k. White Center!!

There's nothing you can unearth about White Center that would shock a soul. So it would do nothing to lower the price. Sensationalism won't cut it. What's going to lower the price is people collectively coming to their senses and saying 'wait, I make only $3500 a month after taxes. I don't want a $2500 mortgage for a place I'm ashamed to live in'
