Wow, you grew up in a different part of the south than I did, then. There's some amount of racism everywhere it seems, but I've seen nothing like the south. There's a reason the KKK are from Vidor, Texas. Having a dearth of black people does not make a place racist. I've seen more accepted diversity here -- Chinese, Indian, African, Persian, Arabic -- than anywhere I ever lived in Texas. There are places in the south where being racially different can be literally life-threatening.
