Goldman and Morgan Stanley want to give the money back?

Just read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/11/busin ... xprod=diggGuess now that they're going to have to follow some rules, lower their salaries and tell us what they're spending our money on, they're not so keen on taking our money. Guess they didn't really need the money that bad?

Why is this news? Wasn't our investment in them supposed to be wildly profitable anyway? This seems to say, "While we were claiming the taxpayer would get their money back and them some, we actually were hoping to just keep it all, but now...".

When King Henry was trying to ram TARP down the throat of America it was a dire emergency, just sign it now, or we'll all be dead tomorrow.
If you remember:
1) He wanted no oversight on how the money got spent
2) He wanted to be free from all legal action down the road
3) In essence, he wanted complete control of the money with no absolutely zero accountability. And that is what he got for the first half of the $700B.
If it is not obvious that our financial system is rotten to the core then there is no hope for this country.
Unless something drastically changes, what we are going to get is more bailouts of the caviar and south of France crowd and "overhaul" of the banking/financial system by the very same crooks who are themselves are the root of the problem.
Let's all sing the national anthem.....Oh beautiful for spacious minds and ever-lasting greed......
