 It's Official: SREP blog is for booster club members only The Tim, Synthetic and Eleua, you are all creating off topic discussions, and deliberately trying to create distubance. [sic]
You are not real estate agents, so please refrain from abusing the real estate agents and anyone else on this forum.
This was supposed to be a mellow discussion of choices, questions and answers for buyers or sellers, not a place for your snarkiness.
My goodness, don't you all have jobs to go do? The Tim, go write the Naked Loon, I think that's a great parody piece, and well worth spending energy on. I made a grand total of 2 comments to the post in question. One suggesting a more appropriate title, and the other pointing out an inconsistent enforcement of the P-I TOS by the blog moderator (see here). Apparently these agents are really on edge, as it doesn't take much for them to snap at the non-"professionals" that have the audacity to suggest that now might not be such a great time to buy after all. Good riddance.

Has this happened to anybody else? Have they resorted to banning the IPs of anyone that happens to be smarter than them?

I take that statement to mean that only real estate agents can abuse others on that forum. Boy, if you think they're grumpy now, just wait until September comes, after RE prices slide all summer and sales volume continues to be awful, extinguishing all hope of a "summer bounce". For a preview, check out Larry Cragun's posts on his blog realestateundressed - it sounds perilously close to panic. I would also assume that if they can't fix the market, they can least shoot the messengers - I would expect them to do some mass IP address banning soon.

They all seem to be focusing on the link to the guy's site. I'm more interested in the fact that she cut and paste what was essentially this guy's marketing materials which I think clearly violates the TOS. Obviously, the rules are different depending on what your occupation is, so I'm not going to bother debating the point with them.

Obviously, other factors can be more important for a potential buyer - but a buyer needs to be aware that they'll probably incur a pretty hefty initial loss if they buy now. That is the message that the RE types want to suppress.

Most of the folks over there would probably feel more at ease if their sales pitch were able to get out to the public without all us nasty detractors waving all these facts and data all over the place.

Two problems with that approach: first, the other professionals on the board wouldn't be able to chime in on how wonderful each other's posts were (particularly the bile-filled ones); two, I think they can figure out that without comments the blog's readership will decline to imperceptible levels. Selective IP banning works better - they can maintain the facade of commentary without the reality.

Note that this has never happened at Seattle Bubble.
