Homebuilder Optimism Shattered

I've seen this billboard on southbound I-5 through Tacoma all year, and finally made sure to photograph it as we drove down to my parents' for Thanksgiving last weekend:



Looks like Soundbuilt Homes was overly optimistic in their sales projections going into 2008 (by a longshot). Late November and they were nowhere near breaking out that fourth digit in the year-long "Dreams Happening" installation.

They need an additional counter for how many of those 558 are now underwater.

Maybe that fourth slot is for a minus sign?

Gee whiz you guys! It says dreams happening, NOT that they are becoming reality. And besides, it's a nominal fee to make a tiny '9' to update the year.

If they wanted to re-purpose that sign, they could use it to post the cheapest gas price at the next exit!

Drove by the sign again today, probably for the last time this year. The counter was up to 563.
