I just looked around the county website and there's no Notice of Default or NTS for the owner. From what's there, the primary mortgage was taken out in 1999 and there's a HELOC from 2006, but the original value of those is still less than the house could sell for. Scam?

Yikes.

Run the person's phone numbers and see if they correspond to a name.
Check that name against the owner of record.

Call the number and see who answers.

Maybe it's a renter? Wow that would be pretty bold, though.
