Nicer cars in my apartment parking lot

Well in the vein of anecdotal info, I have noticed recently that my apartment building parking lot has transitioned over the past year from Hyundai, Honda and Chevy to lots of Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo's.

I only mention it, because as I noticed it the other day I wondered about the cause. Is it due to people with more disposable income
- downsizing
- waiting longer to buy a home (but not really saving that savings)
- higher incomes...
or
- my imagination because my wife wants a Lexus

  • Have you seen New Jack City? ;)

    Are you your brother's keeper?
  • Ha, I have seen it, but it was a long time ago. My point wasn't really what people were driving though, as much as if the renter demographic was changing.
  • How are the demographics changing? You think the ability to take out a loan on an expensive car is a sign of wealth?
  • I dont really know the reason. I just noted that there appears to nicer cars in the parking lot compared to a year ago.

It may be that the same people living here are now willing to assume more debt than they were last year. Or it may be that there are more fence sitters now here with more wealth etc...
  • Same here Cheap. At least 3 new cars in the last month in my neighborhood of rentals.
  • "OK, honey- what about this- if you'll agree we should hold off on the house purchase we can take some of the savings and go get you a Lexus just like Jills?"

    He shoots- he scores!
