Public notions that the housing market and economy are fine seem to run rampant no matter where they happen to live. A friend of mine just moved up here from San Diego and he was shocked to learn that prices had fallen in San Diego. "What? No …

Cramer and CNBC are a bunch of asshats. Cramer was promoting buying tech stocks at the end of Feb. 2000, right before the Tech Crash hit. Things obviously haven't changed and people are still listening, despite his idiocy. http://tinyurl.com/yu…

Evidently stocks have "normalized" and Cramer has called it a "huge buying opportunity" Personally I think this is the beginning of the end. No telling how much Bernanke's comments will "help" to further sustain this insanity. My guess is tha…

Oh, that's totally going to happen again. You are SO right! OMG! LOL.

Yeah, I suppose for a "Black Monday" we'd have to lose about 2500 points off the DOW? Still, a "good" start. LOL Burn baby, burn.

What did you guys buy? I've got puts on FMT, LEND, PMI, WCI, HD, WM, DELL... most purchased prior to this week and Jan 08s, but a few a lot closer in. Dow was down almost 540 points at one point today. Wow!

Typical peak to trough is usually 3 years. Peak to peak is 6 years. This is not a normal real estate cycle... My best guess is going to be 5-7 years to trough and 10-14 years to next Peak. Japan anyone? Actualy Japan was 15 years peak to t…

I've had two mortgages with Countrywide and had a number of issues with both of them. Horrible customer service.

I remember... And they probably have another 100%+ to go. In fact, they'll probably never stop going up in value! The next bubble: Public Storage! oh no!

From Mish's blog - Mish's opinion on why we're more headed for 1929 style depression vs. 70's stagflationary period. 70's Rerun Similarities 1. War in Vietnam war then vs. the war in Iraq now 2. Rising oil and commodity prices Differen…

I think we'll probably see some kind of Black Monday type event here very shortly. I really think the implosion in subprime will be the catalyst for the markets to finally tank. The last few days have been really exciting...

Of course... if you made your living on a ponzi scheme would you spend your time thinking about it?

Not sure if you saw this but it makes for a very entertaining read. Ardell takes on Freakonomics. Maybe she didn't read the book?

A male friend of my wife who lives in Long Beach, CA blogged last night that he and his fiance were talking to realtors. They'd heard it was a "buyers market". Evidently he was under the strange notion that when you get married you must buy a hou…

This is my favorite poll so far! Of course, I voted for Ardell (not trying to sway anyone here, just... well, a person could go mad trying to make sense of her nonsensical bloviations)

Hey, do you guys know about yelp.com? People review anything and everything around Seattle. It's how I found the movers I used recently... Check it out!

I really think she should apologize to Tim - but that's just me.

While that is certainly possible, my feeling is that Vista will actually freeze demand, at least in the short run. What is the impetus to upgrade existing systems if the productivity gains are minor or non existant? The other major problem is …

We have some data to support Vista's problems. Balmer came out the other day and said the companies projections were a bit "too high" And some early reporting by way of Fleck: "...accounts of reporters who chose to cover the story. My favor…

I'm now seeing the same thing, even with IE7. At home it looked OK but here on a different PC the right edge is cut off.

Sorry guys, I was totally joking. Vista is a flop and MS and Boeing employees making $70-120K cannot afford a median priced home here in King County using a traditional mortgage. Not going to happen... At least not for a few years!
-
With the way Vista is taking off, property values should continue to spin up, up and away. I don't see them coming down on the eastside, like, ever. Boeing and Microsoft provide the kind of jobs that allow people to afford $750,000 starter homes.
