Man, this is lame. Just when I started to like Leanne a bit.

Synth couldn't really help himself, and was a bit rude, but Eleua and Fripp were cordial, polite and stayed on-topic.

They simply disagreed.

I don't really care about the TOS nonesense, to tell the truth. Give 'em their free advertising now and again. God know they're gonna need it.

I didn't really care all that much about the TOS stuff either. I just thought it was odd after the bizarre trademark enforcement from a few weeks back that they would allow what I felt was a much more blatant violation.

It was interesting how anyone who questioned the content of the original post was deemed to be "judging other peoples' decisions to buy."

I agree with Fripp, the TOS itself isn't really the issue, it's the inconsistent enforcement.

Marlow & Co. made a big deal about making sure you capitalize REALTOR™©® to be sure you don't infringe on the NAR's precious trademark, which was quite a stretch.

Then when a post comes up that like Fripp said, was basically a reprint of some marketing materials with a promotional link to a mortgage broker, which the writer openly admits it is a "blatant advertisement," they choose to ignore the violation of the portion of the TOS that prohibits advertising and promotion.

Whether it was really the case or not, this gave the strong appearance that the P-I TOS was being waved around as an excuse to promote the NAR agenda, rather than out of any real concern of breaking the P-I rules.

Hey now...I've only stopped the comments on Friday's Rates at RCG...originally per Ardell's request and effectively, the rates post has just become a "rate sheet" since there is no comments allowed.

I think I may have "closed" one or two real old post at RCG that had the same ol' stand by's visiting them to bash and it was not anything constructive. I'll take constructive critism and sincere opinions any day. Those post are outdated and I may do a new one to revisit/update the scenarios.

Not that I know of at RCG--but I'm "just a contributor". There is a post that comes to mind where comments were closed back in August and it's probably a good thing because it was, similar to the one you're referring to here, information that was provided by the agent's lender that was purely promotional. I think it was called something along the lines of "the sky's not falling". Anyhow...I was on my way to a houseboat w/all of our teens and was not around. I do remember reading it on my treo before the battery kindly gave out...and seeing the battering the RCG contributor received. That's the only time I recall someone shutting down a "fresh" post.

I may have shut down the Rent vs Own that you also copied here...I had someone who was just revisiting it just to hurl insult after insult. And...it was a reflection of the times or more correct, what I thought the times were then. If I didn't shut down comments on that post--I may have to hurry up and do so now after dredging it back up on SB!

Rhonda, I'm not really interested in dredging up the past. As I said, the shutting down comments / deleting or rewriting posts thing hasn't happened in quite some time at RCG. Rain City Guide is about a hundred times more interesting and more friendly than SREP lately, and for that I'm quite thankful.

I could never bring myself to register at SREP. It feels like wading into the sewer over there. Between the degrading of commenters that won't reveal their name/address/bloodtype, calling people with different opinions babies, and steadfast beliefs that no one can ever predict anything ever, I never saw much point in trying to participate. It's apparently trying to be an agent back-patting happy fest...if it weren't for those damn bubble kids.
