Not cool

edited April 2008 in Seattle Real Estate
Hey all you guys who read other RE blogs written by agents and comment there, and particularly those who dampen their bright and cheerful outlooks, you should chill out a bit. Look how angry you made my friend

Not cool. Seriously!

Comments

  • I always thought the only comments on PI blog were from the writers responding to each other.

    now I understand why
  • Of course, then there is RCG - which has recently turned into the "everyone arguing with Kary (who does not read Seattle Bubble but responds to posts there), interspersed with random stream-of-consciousness blasts from David Losh" blog.

At least the originating posts are interesting there.
  • Yeah, for some reason Lar annoys me more than most. Probably because he's likely made his million and the epitome of the self-righteous agent.

And he has the delusion he's funny.
  • I want to comment about this SO BADLY but the Realtor Code of Ethics says I can't. Dammit.
  • Larry's just being passive-aggressive again. It's a recurring theme. I don't think it's possible for me to care less what he thinks about anything RE related. He sank that ship a very long time ago.
  • I guess the best we can hope for is that potential clients of his see that posting and that he loses business because of it.

Who in their right mind would want him as their agent after seeing that?
  • Do you know pig-latin, Sandy? ;)
  • Hey Sandy -

Read your blog. Love the Mid-Century Modern of the week. I need to find one of those places closer in to Seattle!
  • After reading his post, I think we all should feel good being a part of "know it all price conscious real estate agent hating video game playing Jim Cramer reading.... generation". Particularly people like The Tim and his cohorts who are major contributors to this blog should feel proud that their modest blog has had some real impact on the real estate scene in and around seattle. Their work is being acknowledged from someone who has been in the industry for 20+ years.

Thank you folks for all the data and the charts and all the timely posts. And yes keep up the good work. The fun has only begun :)
  • I do know ig-pay atin-lay, but I am reasonably certain that would not get me off the hook with regard to the COE. Urgh!

Glad you like the mid-century stuff Deejayoh. I'm behind on updates, I'm off to Japan in the morning, but I'll get some new ones out there when I get back. There are some great ones in the area, though as I wrote in my original post on the style, most of what we see in the Seattle area is a little different than what they have in areas like California. More use of wood, and fewer flat roofs, for obvious reasons (flat roofs + rain = water where water shouldn't be).

Ira sent me an interesting one from Seattle a week or so again in email, you might like it. Here's the URL:

It's STI already but it's a neat house, reasonably priced (well, reasonable by my standards as a RE agent).

The way I usually find them is to do a search by year built and then sort for the word "modern". I pick up a lot of good ones that way, another way is just to happen across them in my MLS travels.
  • That guy is a real piece of work.

Even if I loathed my potential customers like he apparently does, I would certainly not broadcast it like that!

He and Mack have done a great job of galvanizing the (unfair... I admit) negative stereotypes I have always held toward this industry. Thank goodness for their posts. I can certainly steer clear of them, as well as advise my peers to do the same.
  • I think that it is going to be a very long summer for Lar, given the unfocused venom of his post. The one fact I gathered is that it doesn't sound as if he's sold very many houses lately.

I wouldn't also be sure that he has safely made his million - one constant from reading reports from across the country is that RE agents aren't hypocrites - they seem to generally be heavily leveraged into "investment" real estate, so they get to deal with that along with the falloff in business. Who knows the extent to which this applies to posters on the PI RE blog...
  • Ye Gods

Reason #999,995 that I won't be using an agent for my next transaction.

What incredible arrogance, bad grammar, and general dipshittery.

The feeling of impending irrelevance is palpable with these people.
  • this is funny- keeps the blogging world interesting in my opinion
  • Larry K Kragun

    1) Irrelevant
    2) Poster boy for the soon to be extinct "used house dealer" industry
    3) Fits the stereotype of the "RE Professional" to a T
    4) Needs to work on his "shtick" as his humor does not come across very well

I actually feel sorry for the guy. He has yet to grasp that he is a relic.
