Sidebar Inventory Tracker Modified (UPDATED)

edited May 2008 in Seattle Real Estate
Update 11/18
Unfortunately, my source for column 1 (and the data displayed in the sidebar) for the inventory tracker has revamped their site and neutered their search, such that it is not not possible to get a count of inventory from them for a defined region such as a county or city.

Therefore, the sidebar has been changed once again, and now reflects column 2. Please take note, column 2 data tends to be roughly 10% higher than NWMLS reported inventory.

Until further notice, column 1 has been discontinued. I will keep an eye on that data source and update it if the ability to search by county becomes available again.
[end update]

Just a short note to point out that I've updated the sidebar inventory tracker. The logs have not changed, and still include data from the same three sources. I have just changed which source is displayed on the sidebar.

Column 3 was being displayed, but since for two months in a row now it has built up a significant deviation from the other two sources (see this conversation last month), I've switched to displaying column 1.

Column 3 still tends to be the most accurate (or closest to the NWMLS official figures anyway) as of the end of the month, but when it gets off by over 500, it just tends to confuse people, so I'm switching it back.

Comments

  • Any luck in finding a way to get the inventory data displayed in a chart? That would be delightful!
  • I did spend some time playing around with Google Charts, but it got far too complicated, so I shelved it. Maybe I can just figure out a CSS-chart trick or something.
  • One other suggestion: how about having a running count of notices of default and foreclosures? This may be more useful in getting a view of the health of the market rather than the inventory levels.
