New WhiteSwan Condos Near Microsoft?

Another inflated condo erecting near Microsoft http://whiteswancondos.com/ ... at a starting price of ..drum roll..... $400,000 for 1000 sq feet. $400 per sq feet and it isn't even in Bellevue.

Unbelievable.

  • What an awful website. Talk about realtors earning their 6% .

Only 30 units remaining! I'm not sure that they understand how to properly use the word "only" as it appears that the condo has exactly 30 units to begin with.

Haven't you heard the news yet? Redmond IS the new Bellevue! Check out their new city hall if you don't believe me.
  • Perfectfire, you beat me on the draw with your unimpeachable math.

Also, that is an unforgivable name. For someone for whom living near Microsoft is a selling point and has a few very similar options to consider, "White Swan" is not going to be a selling point. It sounds like a retirement complex. (Then again, it looks like a retirement complex.)
  • I have to agree that it's not much of a web site. Anyone else get the impression they threw it up in a hurry?
  • "White Swan" kind of implies that there are lots of similar options.
  • I assumed it was meant to be the alternative to the Black Swan. E.g. no doom will fall because we are prepared for White Swan events.

This makes sense because it simultaneously shows absolute misunderstanding of the Black Swan meme while suggesting to buyers that the units themselves have no variation. In other words, it's exactly the type of dreadful analogy that someone who missed the boat on real estate might believe was clever.
  • Maybe they are implying that there is really a hidden positive black swan somewhere in there if you know how to spot GEMS.
  • Per Redmond Development Records;

    White Swan Condos
    2222 152nd Ave NE
4-Story 38 Unit Mixed Use Bldg
    93,514 sq. ft.

White Swan Investment Group, LLC, Leong family
    Branch of parent company.

Hence the name White Swan Condos.
  • Well put, RCC. I forgot to add earlier, many years ago a friend of mine worked for a company called Swan. Everyone ended up calling it Swine.

I think that for an Eastside vs. a Seattle condo development you are likely to see different types of web-site badness. I was just trying to check out the Trace Lofts site (lots still available, they do not look remarkable in any way) and all the little bits of hipster whimsy make it impossible for some pages to load in what I consider a timely fashion. This has happened before with some Belltown outfits. Anyway, there's a rooftop open house at Trace on 5/31, for all you non-Amazon types who also like free food.
