Bothell's West Hill: is it haunted?

edited August 2008 in Seattle Real Estate
Houses in Bothell's West Hill are some 5% cheaper than equivalent houses in Woodinville or Kenmore (only a couple miles away).

Take this one as an example:

[2160sqft, built 2000, 420k]

Why is that?

Driving around that region, I saw some shady apartment complexes - but I thought they were shielded enough from this region.

Indian burial ground, perhaps? :)

  • Might be different school districts, property tax rates, etc... 5% is not huge.

Different school districts is something that can make a huge difference, so I would agree that this is worth checking. In my experience, the different rate of property tax is usually not that significant to affect the price this much.
  • I was being conservative when I said 5%. Many similar properties in Woodinville are 10% higher than this - somehow, too many peope think their house is worth 500k :)

School district, however, shouldn't be an issue here - West hill's school district is Northshore, same as Woodinville... unless you're talking about the school in particular, not the district.
