Homebuilder Optimism Shattered

edited December 2008 in Seattle Real Estate
I've seen this billboard on southbound I-5 through Tacoma all year, and finally made sure to photograph it as we drove down to my parents' for Thanksgiving last weekend:

Looks like Soundbuilt Homes was overly optimistic in their sales projections going into 2008 (by a longshot). Late November and they were nowhere near breaking out that fourth digit in the year-long "Dreams Happening" installation.

  • They need an additional counter for how many of those 558 are now underwater.
  • Maybe that fourth slot is for a minus sign?
  • Gee whiz you guys! It says dreams happening, NOT that they are becoming reality. And besides, it's a nominal fee to make a tiny '9' to update the year.

If they wanted to re-purpose that sign, they could use it to post the cheapest gas price at the next exit! :D

 Good point! Only 558 people in the region are dreaming of buying a new home. For everyone else, buying a new home is their nightmare.
  • Drove by the sign again today, probably for the last time this year. The counter was up to 563.
