Trends/expectations for summer of '09?

Ok, since everybody will not be spending this spring and summer (and fall, winter, etc) out looking for houses they can't afford with money they don't have, what will folks be spending their time, and actual money, on? I'm thinking low cost stuff such as walks in the city/parks, visting local farmer's markets, taking vacations in the local area (OR, WA, coasts, forests, cities), excursions to British Columbia/Alberta, etc. Perhaps more 'staycations'. Personally I'm planing on visiting local places I've not be to before and/or re-visiting local places I've not been to for a while. Mayhaps take my bicycle up to San Juan for a few days, travel down the coast, etc.

  • I'm thinking about getting back into photography after a multi-year hiatus. That means it's finally time to buy a new setup (I'm thinking Nikon DSLR) and get out of state for a while. Yosemite NP is top on my list, then maybe Glacier NP. If I can get a large chunk of vacation saved up, a multi-week trip to Alaska is in my future.
  • Personally, I've been here going on 3 years and haven't made the trip up to the Great White North. I can't believe hotels are $130/night. I guess it's been a long time since a booked a room at a hotel.

I've got gobs of vacation time this year and even more coming up next year and I don't know what to do with it.
  • I'll be spending my time taking advantage of others misfortunes. Yes, I'm an ass.

    - Looking for a track car and a tow vehicle
    - Looking for good investments among the riffraff
    - Traveling and not having to compete for window seats or paying $300/night for a hotel

    :D
