Large dogs in apartments - borderline cruelty?

I've been looking at apartments, Bellevue, Kirkland, Juanita, South SnoCo, and am constantly amazed at the number of folks who keep large dogs, golden retriever size or larger, in apartments. Perhaps my viewpoint is skewed, I grew up in a rural area where dogs were kept outside, or at least in fairly good sized houses, but it seems to me the keeping a large dog locked in an apartment for most of a day could almost be a type of cruelty.

I think that it depends on size of your flat. If it is big - you can have a big dog there, but if it is small - this is really strange idea. I had a big dog when I was at william hill so everything was good
  • My opinion is that it depends on the dog and also the size of the flat. If the dog is playful and wants to run around places like a lab or a hound, then a flat is not the place to have them in. Whereas we can always have a little poodle, pug or Pomeranian in the compact space of the apartment. I don't think they would mind.
