Forum Functionality questions and suggestions

Hey Tim,

Is there any way to delete posts? I was playing with images and made a mess.

Also, any chance I can change my individual option to HTML instead of BBCode?

Thanks!

  • Bil:

If you are logged in, you should be able to quote, edit or delete your posts. I just tested it... look all the way to the right of your post and you should see an "X" for delete.

    Best,
    Chad
  • Thanks, Man. I missed that. I'll give it a try.
  • Ah. I see now why I missed it. I can't see it at all in firefox. The right side of the post is cut off, so I can't edit.
  • That's what happens when you cheat on the evil empire!
  • It happens with the "evil empire" too. Using IE7, the right side of the posts are cut off.
  • I'm now seeing the same thing, even with IE7. At home it looked OK but here on a different PC the right edge is cut off.
  • I see the problem you guys are having. It appears to only be happening on that one thread in the economics forum, correct? I'll work on a fix, but I may not have time this morning, as I'm off to catch a ferry and enjoy my day off with my wife.

    Sorry for the trouble!
  • Hey Tim,

The width problem has cropped up on new topics.

Also, how do you just delete posts?

    Thanks.
  • The width thing tends to happen when someone posts a long URL as text. I've been trying to catch those and convert them into shorter links as they come. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to come up with a long-term solution yet. If there are still threads with this issue please link to them.

To delete a post you have made, click the little 'X' on the upper-right of the post.
  • Thanks, Tim.

    I don't see an X however.
  • Here is an example of the 'X' I'm referring to: forumexample.png

It's the button beside "Quote" and "Edit."

You don't see that on your posts when you're logged in?
  • Nope.

I saw one briefly on the above post, but now it's gone.
  • I'm not sure it really makes sense to have to go to the last page of a post to see any new ones.

    1) Two potential ways to fix, just put everything on one page.

    2) Put newest posts first.

    Not sure which is better.
