Ardell--higher power on her side?

edited November 2007 in Seattle Real Estate
From today's WSJ:
Ardell DellaLoggia, a Seattle-area Realtor, buried a statue [of St. Joseph] beneath the "For Sale" sign on a property that she thought was overpriced. She didn't tell the owner until after it had sold. "He was an atheist," she explains. "But he thanked me."
I think I remember the listing: "***MANGR IN BACK--Cld easly be converted to xtra BR!!***" Wonder if it sold for list?

  • I...I... I'm speechless.

    This is amazing.
  • In related news, some realtors are serving pasta lunches to divinely sell overpriced homes..

  • LOL, LOL, LOL!!!!!

Perhaps we can formally start the First Church of Christ, Realtor™.

Worship at The Bountiful Fount Of Real Estate!
  • Say what you will about the practice, but it got her free national publicity.
  • Hmmm, one additional item the Realtor has to buy now which comes out of their commission (remembering back to 60 minutes piece on Redfin where a realtor lists off all of her expenses):

"We've got to pay for marketing materials, color copies of flyers, new flowers for the yard, stamps, and, oh yeah, St. Joseph statues . . . "

under the theory that "any publicity is good publicity"
  • RCC, somehow I think the "old testament" may be more appropriate for Seattle...

  • You guys missed the additional St. Jude kit. I'm sure the "patron saint of hopeless causes" will pass up St Joseph in sales soon.

No mention of pink ponies though. Me thinks its still top secret for Seattle only.
  • "Spaghedeity"
    "Pastafarianism"

  • I've always felt that when it comes to religion, you should stick with one (unlike these guys). But when it comes to business, I guess you should embrace all the religions...just in case.

    <tongue firmly placed in cheek/>
  • It looks like this might be a larger trend. Realtors can buy a kit: http://stjosephstatue.com/

Anyone want to bet that Mozillo has a Saint Mathew statue buried in his backyard? See: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=84

Any nominations for the patron saint of bubbleheads? Not surprisingly, the Church has not beatified a patron saint of skeptics.
  • RCC,

Is that a picture of the flying spaghetti monster?
  • Yes of course it is. I don't really know that much about the flying spaghetti monster faith, but here's my interpretation.

There's a flying spaghetti monster hovering over the earth (I think he's supposed to be invisible, but of course in the artists rendition he's visible). Some of the things he hovers over are trees, mountains, and midgets. If you don't believe my explanation is complete, follow the Noodley Goodness link for the wikipedia entry.
  • FSM seems to be doing well here in Seattle. I came out of PCC the other day and found this scene (that's my car on the right). Wonder if I can save on taxes if I buy a new house and declare it a church?
