Case-Shiller Index Hedge Fund

edited December 2007 in Housing Bubble
I hope people can see this video of Robert Shiller on CNBC (I believe it was today or yesterday) discussing his index hedge fund.

I got a kick out of the somewhat debate unfolding between the guests on the video. Robert Shiller appeared to almost completely disarm the detractors who appeared to really not understand what his hedge fund was about.

Follow the link. Hope you enjoy the short video as much as I did.

  • Diana, especially, does come across as a bit unclear on the concept
  • Diana got punked, she obviously does not understand what "hedging" means. Look, if your house price goes up, and your puts is losing money, that's good. It's designed to do that because you are paying to protect your investment in the house with the price of your hedge! CNBC hires bunch of clowns.
  • <mulling this over> So you're telling me with no training, education, or experience I can become a financial adviser? Not just any adviser, but one of high enough caliber to be highly paid and appear on national television? And all I need to do is get some plastic surgery?

It sure beats the alternatives (actually working). I'll do it.
  • I'll cut her some slack. Check out her blog. She is usually pretty on top of real estate issues - one of the few reporters who is.
