Well, you'd be going east, which is not exactly the direction on which this country was founded. So that's definitely a risk...though not as great as Seattle->Boston would be.

Well in 1994 I did move from Seattle (Queen Anne) to Bellevue, to reduce commute times. It was heart-wrenching! After a few years I needed a Seattle fix only every other weekend or so, and now I've come to appreciate the easier parking, general cleanliness, and relative safety of the Eastside. Plus Seattle has since gotten more crowded (even worse parking) and more Eastside-ish, so it seems to me there's not much reason to live there unless you're in your 20s and/or childless.
