About 6 months ago the big story was that many of these same ships were parking in the harbor of Hong Kong, to the point where ships were nearly hitting each other trying to navigate the port. Apparently this was the solution.

I like cars and driving as much as you do, but I would still greatly prefer to have automated highways in congested urban areas. Driving from Seattle to Tacoma at 3pm? Have fun with that, I'd rather read a book. And I'd rather have soccer mom foc…

The reliability joke is too easy, but if the car was a pre-92 I6 model, it's both a clunker and well worth the $4500 to get rid of. A mint V12 model might get $4500, but unlikely unless it's a show-car caliber low-mileage model. The downside for…

I've always viewed these as combining the worst aspects of renting and buying with no real upside for the renter. You pay a premium on your rent and are locked into a buy option price; if you buy it after a year or two you've "wasted" that time/mon…

It certainly behaves like a bubble at times, as there seems to be no news bad enough to cause a sell off, and even tiny morsels of "good" news result in big rallies. Company loses a ton of money, no big deal. More layoffs, hey that's less labor co…

Rose, based on my friends/acquaintances/relatives who've taken advantage of it, I'd say you're correct. Many of them are not new car people, but have a used car worth very little in terms of book value, that becomes worth $7-9k (CARS + Manufacturer…

No, I get your point. It's an absolutist viewpoint. But it's not representative of reality. I ask a girl out, she says no, I end up sad for a day or two. - I made a decision to ask her out, believing I had something to offer. - She made a d…
