Should these ads be in the Craigslist rental section?

edited June 2007 in Seattle Real Estate
At the end of the ad they state that they are within the TOU of CL and that they want to be emailed as to why they are being flagged.

Simple...they aren't advertising a rental...hence...miscategorized.

  • You should have copied the text of the ads here, because they've all been flagged down already.
  • Sorry Tim...my bad.

They were pretty much ads aimed at renters for "assistance" in buying a home. I'm sure they'll pop up again and I'll copy the text next time.
  • WA-HBAP (Washington Home Buyers Assistance Program) is now offering a new program to help you get down payment assistance by providing you a 50% credit towards either closing costs and/or down payment when you use our programs to buy a house or condo. If you pay $1,500 a month in rent, we will credit you $750 a month towards a home purchase. YOU CAN LIVE ANYWHERE as long as your rent can be verified. This is not a low income program, your monthly income must be at least $3500-4000 gross and you must be able to pay a minimum $1,400 monthly payment.

For more information on this program, go today to http://www.wa-hbap.org or call 206-274-8079 -- 24 hrs! Hurry, before funding runs out!
  • I think these are just fronts for agents. I actually bought my first house from an agent via a very similar web site in 2001. Basically, they pitch it like a 'deal' to get people who don't think they can afford a house interested and talking to a realtor.

Of course, there is no real "funding" other than rolling all your closing costs into the loan and starting you out on a super-affordable teaser rate.

In my case, I just wanted to check it out, but I also wanted to buy a house anyway (and chose one I could afford without an ARM), and since it was my first house, I was fine with the Windermere agent who netted us as her catch. I actually think she was pretty good for an agent, even with what I know now, but I still am using redfin to sell that house right now.

I should be hearing about my inspection counteroffer in the next couple days so I can wrap this sale up and start renting.
