Finding open houses

Hi,

How can I find "open house" events?

I currently rent, but I wanted to familiarize myself with the houses currently on the market. RedFin shows open house information in a detailed view of a property, but one can't simply search for open houses (I had to go through 10 properties to find 2 that had an open house near me). Are there websites that allow to search for say "all properties in 98004, with open house on July 21st or July22nd, with 3BR+"

Thanks,

Lukasz

  • From what I've seen in Bellevue, open houses are pretty much across the board on Sundays from 1pm-4pm.
  • Generally every property listed in the RE classifieds in the weekend paper will have an open house on that Sunday. I think you can pick a copy up as early as Friday night at your local grocery store. Also as mentioned above you can just try cruising the neighborhood of interest on Sunday afternoon (most agents have the signs out a little ahead of time).
  • If you play it right, you can do the 'open house buffet' and go from house to house and eat all the free goodies.

The kiddies love it. They get cookies, ice cream bars, juice. I get bottled water, deli plates. I'm waiting for the smoked salmon to come out. I figure about another 3 months and Bainbridge will start the arms race of open house freebies.

When they ask you to sign the guestbook, just put 'Eleua' and put down SeattleBubble.com.

Spreadin' good cheer on the Westsound.

 You beat me to it. There was a nice BBQ on the roof-deck of the Cosmopolitan not too long ago. It was during one of those realtor "mega" open houses where they are showing a bunch of condos at once. I didn't want to wait around as they were just getting set up but hey...free food...a great view...sounds like people could have a nice Sunday afternoon in downtown Seattle.

Street parking is free on Sunday's.

Take the kids to the childrens museum or something like that.

Have lunch courtesy of Windermere or John L. Scott.

Walk around for a while...go to the park.

Return to the open houses after a couple hours for a light afternoon snack.
  • When I lived in the Dallas area, I would go for a run around the city where I lived. There was an model house that was open from '00 to '04. No kidding. They always had new RE agents, so I always stopped in for a little air conditioning and free bottled water.

I'm not kidding. I must have consumed over 200 liters of water at that one house over 4 years. My kids must have eaten 50# of cookies and popcicles.

Bainbridge is going to have smoked salmon anyday now. I can feel it.
