Upgrading phpBB today

I'll be upgrading phpBB (the program that runs this forum) today, and also updating the layout to match the blog. If things stop working or act funny, that's why.

I'll make an update to this thread when the upgrade is complete.

  • Ok, I think the upgrade is mostly complete. I'll probably still tweak the style around a little bit here and there, but it seems to be working the way I've got it now, and the look somewhat matches the blog, so I'm satisfied for the time being. Feel free to leave any comments or complaints here.
  • I like the look overall. The only thing is that the board index text is pretty small and hard to read.

    How's this? Better?
  • Yes. Thank you.
  • My pleasure. You know, it's funny. Back in high school, when I used to work at Subway making sandwiches all day (or night, as the case may have been when I worked the closing shift at the store that stayed open until 2:00AM), I wanted nothing more than to have a job where I didn't have to deal with customers. And yet, now here I am, working for myself, but really in running websites like these, it's all about the customers/readers.

At least you all don't leave nasty sticky messes all over the self-serve soda machine.

    :)

Um, wow. I just viewed this thread in IE, and I assume you're talking about the insane widening of the forum portion. Is that what you're talking about, or is it something on all the forums?

Not sure why IE doesn't make that long text string above into a scrolling box like FF does. I'll have to look into that.

yup, using IE7 - and it's just this forum. the others are fine. I suspect both of the remaining users of IE7 are having this problem

You could upgrade to a standards compliant browser. It's free.

    Cheers!
  • yes, but unfortunately use of that product is frowned upon for use at work by my employer (which is the creator of the aforementioned problematic browser)

now let me just scroll way over to the right to find that "submit" button...
  • I actually have firefox installed at work, but it can only access intranet sites for some reason.
