Realtors "Sold By" Sign

I've been waiting about 2 months for Windermere to take down their 6-foot sign with the "Sold By" placard in front of an apartment complex across the street from me. Does anyone know how long this free advertising can continue?

I've seen them up for 3+ months before. It's purely anecdotal, but my experience is that the longer the "sold" sign is up, the more likely it is the sale will fall through and the house will go back on the market.
