Lots of good quotes in this article...
My favorite:
"Scott, the Johnsens' agent, cautions, however, that while most sellers are more flexible than in the past, they're not frantic and buyers need to know that.
"The reality is we're not desperate; we're not California; we're not Florida," she says, recalling a recent bid. Those two states are among the national leaders in foreclosures and home-price declines. Someone offered 30 percent less than the asking price for a million-dollar house. The sellers laughed."

We're special!!! Don't you get that?

With all the California license plates i see on a daily basis, sometimes it feels we are.
Um, so? The buyers went off and found a different house among the thousands on the market. Despite claims to the contrary, you are getting really desperate if you think the reason nobody should make an offer for your house that won't sell at the current price is because they'll get laughed at. What are we? 9 years old?
