4th of July
My 4th of July plans fell through. I'm thinking of going down to Ruston Way in Tacoma. Does anyone have recommendations? I'm looking for something that has a great firework show and that is kid friendly (I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old).

Great show, and an enormous park (210 acres) to enjoy it from, but it's probably only worth the drive if you've got someone down there to stay with for free.
Nice show, stuff for the kids. The park gets pretty packed though, so go early and get a blanket down.
There are a number of smaller fireworks displays in different localities, in addition to the big ones on the sound and in Lake Union.
Smaller would probably be better for wee ones.
One I really liked was in Eastsound on Orcas Island. A little, local parade, a community band, and a quaint fireworks display over the water. Of course you have to get out to Orcas and find someplace to stay, which is easier said than done at this late date.
Or you could go up to Montlake Terrace and be on the front-lines of a war zone. Last year was the recreation of the siege of Manila, as far as I could tell. Heavy artillery.
