Why bubbles are great for the economy.

As a Seattle renter waiting for the hopefully inevitable, I do enjoy perusing your Seattle Bubble blog here (as well as The Housing Bubble Blog).

I also think meshugy is nuts.

Anyway, I thought this article on Slate was interesting: Why bubbles are great for the economy.

  • squidier - That is a great article and like how it puts things in perspective!

What does anyone think the next bubble will be? Time to get in early since most of you missed the last bubble, lol...Real Estate that is. No really, I want to hear what you have to say...otherwise I will put all chips on 7 Red and hope for the lucky spin, jk.

I missed it? hmmm. Seems like that 40% appreciation I put in my pocket for 3 years of ownership was worth something.

I guess I just missed the ride down. I hope you enjoy it.

Tell ya what - I'll call you at the next market top, and you can buy that one too.

Why do I find Meshugy bragging about his appreciation to be obnoxious, but not this?

Maybe its because Appreciation <> Profit

on second thought, it probaby is annoying
  • Probably because M bought an ugly house at a high price, and hasn't had the guts to cash out his profit before gloating. Anyone that bought and managed to sell at a significant profit, dumb luck or not is far more credible than someone that hasn't closed the trade.
