Does anyone know why future Top Ramen eaters must all put their picture on their business cards and advertisements?
I can't think of too many other businesses that do this.
The obvious answer is that they want face recognition to go along with their name, however I believe there is probably more to it than that.
Anyone watch HBO's "Big Love"? In the latest episode, Bill Paxton's character (man, what a horrible actor - yet still I watch) puts 8 large roadside billboards up replete with a 40' tall image of his face.
His answer "We're a family establishment. That sets us apart from Home Depots and the Lowes of this world"
If you watch the show, you understand that this guy has a HUGE ego and longs for recognition. So despite the fact that he's got 3 wives he can't help but want to post huge images of himself or join a prominent local business association.
Maybe it's a bit of both. Either way, when I see most of these fake glamour shots taken 20 years ago & retouched realwhore images it puts me on a fast track toward immolation.
I think Karen is real. I think she may be taking some direction from RCG about talking points to work into her posts. Being a journalism major, she has undoubtedly had a lot of practice writing articles like these.
She probably nagged the guy to death. I bet she has a piece of paper taped to her bathroom mirror that reads "I will sell this house today!" and "there is no real estate bubble"
Guys, I'm as unenthusiastic about Ardell as anybody (to put it lightly), but the ruthless bashing is a bit over-the-top. Surely we can have a more constructive conversation, perhaps by addressing some of the nonsense she so frequently spews, rather than engaging in pointless personal attacks.
The whole "bubble people" label is getting a bit tiresome. From looking at the occupations that people have on this forum, I think that the label "bubble person" is a bit ridiculous. This forum is comprised of very well educated individuals that have all noticed an anomaly in the current pricing of housing. If that makes me a "bubble person" so be it. However, I would put the logic, commons sense, and education level of the people on this forum vs. anyone over at RCG.
Being dismissed as a "bubble person" while posting logical, rational ideas over at RCG, and having half of my posts deleted, pisses me off. I don't attack anyone personally, I may attack some nonsensical, pointless drivel from the mouths of people who's entire livelihood is based off of the RE market, but I don't engage in personal attacks. Yet everytime I make a fact based rational argument on the RCG, my posts are deleted. I can't wait for the day of reckoning, when these shills and mouthpieces of the RE industry are sent packing.
There are many "bubble people" where I work. At happy hour yesterday all people talked about was how unaffordable it was to live here because anything relatively close to Seattle was 500K. Without any prompting from me (admitted bubble blatherer), people would opine about foreclosures, inventory, price declines, etc. This whole bubble people thing is like saying to the Fed, shhhhhhh! If you keep bringing up a recession, people will stop going into debt and then the economy will take a dump.
Why be so sensitive about being called a "bubble person"...I mean really...how much stock do you guys put in the people that call us "bubble people"?
Wear your tag PROUDLY!
We are actually everywhere. I had dinner recently at that "Serious Pie" place in Downtown Seattle. Lo and behold, the couple seated next to me were "Bubble People" too. We laughed, talked, high-fived, and had a grand old time! My friend who was with me pretty much kept his mouth shut as he's an owner of one of the "Greenlake" townhomes that are north of 85th.
Speaking of proud... at the pride festival this morning in Cap Hill, read through Seattle PI's RE advertising section - couldn't believe how many new high rise condos are going up... reminded me of living in San Diego 2003-2005.
You know, i have to agree that it probably won't be AS BAD of a crash as San Diego is having/will have. Sure, it will be a "blood bath" but I don't see quite the same amount of speculation here compared to San Diego.
My forecast is for both regions to go back to 1997-1998 prices or more, but SD has more equity to lose.

You're right Tim.. I'm seeing lots of schadenfreude re: RCG/Ardell in our not to distant future anyway.
Ardell: "I agree that should prices fall, that would be good news for many and OK news for many sellers too."
Sandy: "I find this whole thought of prices should go down totally pathetic - its like wishing evil for others."
Ardell: "Do you hear people wanting that out on the Street? Or is it just 'a blog thing'? I only hear it from 'bubble people'."

Now we live in Cap Hill - we've got a downtown and West facing view - not quite as spectacular but the rent is $1000 less every month.
