California prices will be saved by the Seattle equity locusts!
-
And everyone is fairly forgiving of them all. After all, if no one else could see this coming how could they be expected to?
-
A banker's goal is to take risks that make him go broke only when every other banker goes broke too.

Finance used to be Finance Guru. He changed his name when people pointed out that he didn't know what he was talking about. If he was responsible for helping Wamu manage risk then I'm not surprised they ended up where they are.
-
Maybe we could get the law changed so that the agent gets that part of the tax payment.
-
Not me. I didn't like the commute. It was out of the price range I can afford anyway. I guess I am looking for something smaller than 3000 sqft. By the way, I win! I bet it sells within a week.
-
I agree with Susan Ryan that the buyer shouldn't care how much money was put into a house. Price it on its own merits. If it sells at that price then so be it and good for them. Personally I don't get how construction and jobs suddenly warrant six f…

Not when you are getting paid for it.
-
Did you tell the agent you knew he was a liar?
-
Based on the price per square foot of the listing in question, I'm going to guess that the square footage they list includes and unfinished basement. Note to self: Never buy a house listed by Deborah Covey.
-
If it is standard practice then you are not telling a lie.
-
Here is a tip when listing your house: Be honest. If you include the basement in your square footage then I am going to wonder what other lies you are telling. It will make me not want to buy your house.
-
Including the basement when others don't makes it difficult to compare the house to other properties.
-
If it was really 300 sqft, it would be listed at $800k in Bellevue or Redmond.
-
Don't forget to take 10-15% out to fund your retirement. Unless you consider your house to be your retirement. But if that is the case you better have a bigger down payment and a 10 year mortgage so that interest doesn't eat up everything you …

Fascinating. How did you discover that, jil?
-
Markor, Am I remembering correctly that you used to be a pretty strong housing bull a few months ago?
-
I've been out of undergrad for 12 years. I owned for nine years before moving here. I could put down a very large percent downpayment. I have a good income. The inability to purchase anything in Redmond/Bellevue/Kirkland is frustrating.

Funny. I saw that this morning too. It isn't trivial to get the actual addresses for the NTS's. You actually have to open the scan of the document. You can get a description on the search page, but it gives some sort of legal description of the n…

OP, I moved here in 2006 and was baffled by the real estate market. I thought I had a pretty good income, but I couldn't afford to buy here. Was everyone else really making that much more than I was? I found the Seattle Bubble during my effort…

I'm in a pretty similar situation. Similar income. More savings. Married. New Baby. Mid-thirties. I don't see anything I would be willing to live in long term at a price I can afford. I plan to rent for a while. If prices don't drop then I'll mov…

I put in my zip code and that is the data it gave me. If that is actually local data then maybe Bellevue isn't such a great place to own property after all.

Nothing says "click me" like Star Wars and Rube Goldberg.

Better to disguise the URL. Here is the real article about the new homes going on the auction block: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/355253_newhomes17.html

Ah, good ole eBGIQ7ZuuiU. Good thing I recognized the YouTube identifier before I clicked on the link.

Yeah, and people who can't understand or appreciate sarcasm too. Sarcasm always appreciates. Buy now or never laugh again.

RCG sounds like me. I've been contributing to my IRA since I was 17. And now it looks like Bernake wants to inflate our way out of this mess.

I didn't write anything online about JPL vs Microsoft. I can't think of a single person I knew at JPL who Microsoft wouldn't be lucky to hire.
