Long-term care insurance. Buy it. Insurance should be for catastrophe. Everything else should be paid by RobRoy.

The wave is movin' closer to town: http://www.redfin.com/WA/Shoreline/2134-N-185th-St-98133/home/79067 425K last year. 399K list this year.

I like Mish (I've been reading him for over a decade), but you usually gotta take what he says and divide by 10. In this circumstance, he's probably right. My guess is they'll be bought. For not very much.
-
That's a good idea. I think I shall add a balloon coming out of my pet elephant shrew's mouth saying "you smell like a Nazi, and your dog does to." I feel about the same about folks writing at FreeRepublic as you feel about folks with pony-tails…

Geez. First politics, now religion. Yeah, we would probably get along much better in person, because I would avoid these topics like the plague.
-
Maybe you're just a wee bit wiser than I gave you credit for, RR. Whatever the actual topic of this thread is, I wholeheartedly endorse staggering back to it.

That Greenlake house dropped to 695K, then went off the market; probably because it went to the courthouse steps. Not sure if there's a way to find out if it sold, or whether we will see at as REO in a month or 3.
-
Heh. Okay, Robroy. You've pretty much proved my point for me. I was down in that march you were scoffing at, along side a doctor, an economist, a veterinarian, and a lawyer. None students, none with pony-tails (though I have a bit of grey), and…
-
Yeah, all those students and grey pony-tails were so "out-there" and way off-base marching against the war. No wisdom among that crowd. WTF? Anyone NOT marching against the Iraq war should be pondering why they weren't and what tropical islan…

Wow. This house was just around the corner from my last house. It had been for sale for around 500K for much of 2007, then cut the price to 450K. Sold for 350K, below what they paid in 2004! Larger, level lot. Twice the sq ft of my house,…

Usually you don't take a picture of the back of your wife for your listing.
-
Does this look like 2 stories to you? Me neither. Realtors should be fined heavily for trying to pass-off this crappy flipper bullshiznet.
-
It takes a month or two for the listing to show up on Redfin as sold, I think. Estately just had a number of solds I was following recored on June 30th that were all sold some time in May.
-
I don't think this is true any longer. They pulled the deeds of trust, supposedly due to SS# being on some of the much older ones. You have to go in person.
-
There are pools out there. Personally I find them a negative, as I have a dog and a small child. I don't think I'm alone. Why would you waste your yard on something you can use a few months out of the year?
-
I think some of this is the market (sounds like pendings for July are way down), but some also may be the change in the rules. Houses are no longer allowed to be listed as STI on the NWMLS, so they may simply be disappearing from Redfin without n…

Yeah, I could post those 50s and 60s Brady homes all day in this thread: Ditto with townhomes or newer homes with 3 garages front and center like a mutant monster. Or skinniesI hate skinnies. This one's trying so hard to be ugly, it's k…
-
They tell you price changes if open houses are scheduled, or when it goes contingent, but I think if it goes straight to STI, they don't tell you (though it gets pushed into the off the market category in your favorites.

Well, I wouldn't buy a new home either, but a lot of people do place a premium on it, and craftsman style, this relatively close in, seemed to be listing at 6-700K up until now.
-
Is it made of straw?!? 524K for a new house with those dimensions, even in Kenmore, seems like it's well below market. What am I missing? Or are the builders finally getting it?
-
Here's the link to the latest update. King county has less supply than the nation, but we are at around 7 months, which even the Realtors claim is a buyer's market. Now they just have to convince the sellers. We don't have a lot of foreclosur…

I'm sure there is. Jack McCabe down in Florida was thinking about, and trying to raise money from investors, for this sort of thing years ago on another board I frequented. I always found it funny when he was the go-to guy for good quotes in paper…

Christ. Why would anybody pay $1.3 million to live next to the transfer station?!? The block stinks, quite literally.
-
I'm hoping we see that steep decline in spring 2009 that Cali saw in spring 2008. 20% drop is my hope. It will probably be more like 10% on top of 10 we will have already seen, but that will be fine.

Zillow's been doing goofy things for the last 6 months. In December, my house had a peak Zestimate of around $392K. Now there's no evidence it ever Zillowed over $340K. Revisionist history. I don't mind them tweaking their algorithm (in fact…
-
Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I saw that 2004 price was "fraud?"
-
That half-story shouldn't really be counted at full $/sqft either. Still, it compares not too unfavorably to other properties a block from the lake. I think it's all due to come down, so I wouldn't bother unless the bank rolled it back considerabl…

I've been watching that for a while. It's a short sale, due for auction in mid-July if I recall correctly. I haven't seen the inside, but if the square footage is right (I think it's a heavy amount of basement space), the location is pretty ha…

Where are you? There are a number of smaller fireworks displays in different localities, in addition to the big ones on the sound and in Lake Union. Smaller would probably be better for wee ones. One I really liked was in Eastsound on Orcas…
